Mr. Anders is a partner in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on product liability, toxic tort, negligence, construction claims, premises liability, insurance coverage and trucking and transportation.
Mr. Anders has published materials on numerous subjects including spoliation of evidence, product defects and consumer conduct, causation in product liability cases, and a component manufacturer's duty to warn. He has also lectured extensively on product liability, evidence, and trucking claims. Mr. Anders' speaking engagements have included presentations at the request of The Defense Research Institute, Pennsylvania Defense Institute, National Business Institute, and the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel. He is a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council. By Order of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Mr. Anders was appointed to the Civil Procedural Rules Committee. He is currently serving a term on this Committee that is charged with responsibility for recommending changes in the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure.
Mr. Anders received his A.B., magna cum laude, from Franklin & Marshall College where he was also elected Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D., cum laude, in 1978 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif, a National Honor Society, whose membership is limited to the top ten percent of the graduating class. Mr. Anders served a term as a Law Clerk to the President Judge on the Lehigh Court of Common Pleas before starting his career at White and Williams. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. Mr. Anders is also admitted to the bars of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States Supreme Court. He has represented clients before the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Mr. Anders currently serves as the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute Product Liability Committee and regularly writes and edits for that organization's journals. His professional memberships include The Pennsylvania Defense Institute, Defense Research Institute, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, in addition to the Product Liability Advisory Council. He has participated in pro bono activities with the Support Center for Child Advocates, is involved with volunteer work for the Homeless Advocacy Project and is a private pilot. Mr. Anders was selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Mr. Anders is AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating system.
