Mr. Cavanaugh is a partner in the Litigation Department. He concentrates his practice in the defense of professional malpractice claims, with a particular emphasis in Health Care Law.
Mr. Cavanaugh is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all of the state and federal courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is also a member of various Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, and affiliated sections of these professional organizations devoted to trial work and malpractice claims.
Mr. Cavanaugh graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1969 with a B.A. in English and Political Science and received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972.
Mr. Cavanaugh is a frequent lecturer on trial tactics and the defense of medical claims and has written articles of interest to physicians, lawyers, nurses, and administrators in the health care field. In 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, he was selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine. Mr. Cavanaugh has been AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating system.
